CHUSOK

2 10 2006

Chusok doesn’t actually begin until Tuesday but that link (not a great site really) gives a basic overview. It’s a GREAT holiday. Last year I was here I took most of my pics in INSADONG (link to that is around somewhere here). I’m planning on hitting that place FO SHO this week.
This first image has nothing to do with Chusok, was taken at Silim market and just displays how herbs (see cinamon logs), spices and grains are often distributed in rural Asia. I just love the picture. It makes me want to learn more about holistic and Chinese medicine. Pity my battery died. SOOO much even in my lil hood. S’alright I have days off^_^

Angelique, I know youre drooling^_^. KIMCHI!!!!! The good stuff.

Its traditional to give gifts on this holiday. This is a common type….pretty aren’t they?

Asumas in the grocery store in Hanbok. Wish it was a better pic.

These were in a window but I really need to take GREAT pics of nice Hanbok, I’m starting to really like them.

Lately I stop by here every morning to buy one of these to nibble on at work. DOK, rice-based uh…”things”. The shop-keepers posed too but I accidentally cut them off =/ Yummy but an aquired taste

Chusok is prine time for Korean KICK ASS HUGE APPLES (these aren’t even that big compared to the expensive ones, theyre sold on the street by the guys that follow who insisted on getting their pic taken too). Next to them are usual sized apples. SOOO YUMMY.

And this be the street I got lost down, lol ^_^
 I felt like snapping it.

This is just a very blurry shot of what “approching a more active area” looks like contrasted to rural hoods. I was walking and leaving to climb up my lil mountain.
